  • You do not need to be staying with us in order to access our services

  • Texting support is available on our Support Line (NEW!)**

  • Both Support lines (Kaushee’s Place Support Line and the Sexualized Assault Support Line) are available 24/7

  • Travel funds are available (for anyone fleeing violence or sexualized assault) to move between Yukon communities for safety and/or services

  • We do need to know your full name to ensure that there are no safety issues or conflict with current service users

  • We do need to hear from the potential service user directly (we need to hear that they would like to stay here). A service provider cannot dictate your stay here.

  • We can send a taxi in emergency situations if you live within Whitehorse city limits

  • We are staffed 24/7, someone is always here to ensure needs are met

  • We have a communal living environment where the kitchen/lounge and bathrooms are shared

  • We have a priority mandate for persons fleeing violence – we can occasionally assist those who are unhoused, but we need to ensure safe space for those fleeing violence/abuse. In this case (if you are facing houselessness), you may be given a 48 hour stay so that we can help you to figure things out

  • If we cannot have you stay here, the support line workers can refer you to other services in your area

  • If you have pets, we are at capacity and/or you have serious challenges with communal living environment, we may request for you to stay at a local hotel (free of charge), we will still provide food and support to you

  • We offer second stage apartments that offer subsidized housing, when available, to former Transition residents. We can also assist filling out housing applications to help you find something more permanent

  • You are required to complete the intake process as this is the basis of our funding from Yukon Government

  • Staff can support you to feel safe in your home with safety planning and may refer you to other service agencies for resources, if we don’t have them

  • Staff can assist you to stay in your home in the face of challenges and/or safety issues.

  • Kaushee’s Place kitchen is full of food for you to cook what you need when you stay here. Occasionally someone might cook group meals. We can accommodate allergies and special diets too.

  • We provide counsellors once/week and other services are offered in partnership, through referrals to other community organizations (We can provide support letters and referrals to other services)

  • We can attend medical, legal, social assistance and other appointments with you for support or can advocate with you

  • We don’t take clothing donations regularly, as we refer out to the free stores, thrift store, Victoria Faulkner’s Women’s Centre and/or the Outreach Van.

  • We do take donations of catered meal leftovers, just call ahead – 24/7

  • The exterior of our buildings is monitored by video surveillance and everyone needs to be visible to the camera to be allowed into the building

  • We can offer accompaniment to the hospital, RCMP, or Victims Services to obtain services after a sexualized assault – providing there is more than one staff on shift

  • We offer third party reporting of sexualized assault (anonymously to RCMP), or the use of our front room to meet the RCMP or other service providers; you do not have to be staying with us to utilize a meeting room you don’t have to be staying here to use the front room to have meetings with RCMP, VS or FCS

  • Staff can support with rides to appointments if they are available – we are unable to drive to private homes (safety) and can provide bus tickets also

  • We can assist you to get your required documents to access other services in town, we provide forms for Yukon Housing, Safe-at-Home (adding yourself to the by-name-list)

  • Due to lack of space, we are only able to store 3 bags of belongings for our service users; for Transition service users, up to 3 months; for Second Stage service users, up to one month.
