Women's Transition Home

Women’s Transition Home is located in Whitehorse Yukon on the traditional territory of Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. We provide safety and support to women, gender diverse people, and their children who are responding to and resisting violence.

Women’s Transition Home is a dignity preserving organization. Our guiding principles include:

  • We understand that victims always respond and resist.

  • We view violence as deliberate, and a choice.

  • We are committed to providing a positive social response to every woman, child and colleague.

Our history and our future are rooted in the strength of two remarkable women

Kaushee Harris and Betty Sjodin demonstrated mastery in empathy, compassion, courage, resilience, humility and strength. These remarkable women have given us the gift of leadership, showing us how to meet women and gender diverse people experiencing violence in a non-judgemental and dignified way, while always recognizing the individual stories and autonomy of each woman and gender diverse person who crosses our path. We cherish their remarkable contributions to our history, and proudly root ourselves in their legacies as we grow into the future.
